Request: Ideas for few day excursions out of Paris

My wife and I are planning on heading over half a week early to adjust to the timezone and do a bit of sightseeing. We've been to Paris itself a number of times so I'm not really keen on staying there too much - and it should be the kind of interview where they'll wine/dine me over the course of a few days so I should have plenty of time in Paris itself later in the week. Since people here seem to have a decent amount of travel experience, does anyone have great suggestions for short excursions out of Paris? When I say short, I'm thinking 1~3days ish. And I'm really leaning towards staying within France itself for this trip since I haven't spent much time there aside from Paris, whereas I've already seen the UK, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, and a little bit each of Spain and Germany in the past. Thanks in advance!
